THE GOLD METAL GRASSHOPPER
Words by Gwendolyn Soper 2000, 2004
There's a gold metal grasshopper
Up on the roof of old Faneuil Hall !
Right beneath him our forefathers spoke for the truth,
Up on the roof of old Faneuil Hall !
Right beneath him our forefathers spoke for the truth,
So
he’s heard it all.
In
the Great Hall these Patriots
Unified
those who were wanting
To
keep freedom too.
Adams,
Otis, and John Hancock,
Fired
up the crowd:
To
our cause be true!
She’s
our “Cradle of Liberty”.
Citizens
came—to speak up
For
indignities done.
Abolitionists
cried out
That
freedom’s for all,
And
their right was won.
Still today you will find that
The
citizens come
To
the Great Hall
To
fight for their rights.
We
make history standing
For
what we believe.
We
must use our might!
While
our gold metal grasshopper
Spins
in the wind of old Faneuil Hall,
We
the people still speak up for truth’s mighty cause.
He
can hear it all!
Do
Dee Do Dee Dee Do Day Dah
Do
Dee Do Day Dah Dee
Doing!
Doing! Boing!
