SMOOTS (AND ONE EAR) ~ Harvard Bridge
Words
by Gwendolyn Soper ©2005
End over
end
Like a
pancake a flippin’,
Poor Smoot
was layed down
With a
flop, flop, flop, flop.
They
wanted to measure
The length
of the bridge
With Smoot
as a ruler,
As he
drop, drop, drop, dropped.
The
floppin’ and chalkin’
Began near
Mem Drive,
By the end
of the day
They could
see Storrow near.
How long
was this bridge?
Harvard
Bridge, let’s be
clear!
Three
hundred sixty-four Smoots
(And one
ear)!
